Fundamentals of Intuitive Yoga
This 3 hour class begins with a presentation on the principles of classical Yoga. Yoga is a holistic approach to a conscious life. Yoga means “union.” It promotes awareness of our physical body, our mental attitudes, and spiritual beliefs through self reflection. Yoga gives us the tools to strengthen and release tension in the tissues of our body and our thoughts.
What makes Yoga radical to western thinking, and challenging to some schools of thought, is the teaching that our body is a profound container of our G-d given Spirit. The more we grow and evolve, the stronger the presence of Spirit. Our body becomes healthier. Our life becomes more fulfilling.
Then we will start moving, stretching and releasing tension in the spine and back with simple postures called asanas. This practice is a fantastic way to release stiffness and keep the spine and back supple. Most important to Intuitive Yoga is learning to listen to your body by moving slowly and safely. You will discover what the possibilities really are for greater movement. Intuitive Yoga shows us that even if you only have 50% range of motion, you can make 100% of that 50%. There truly are no limits to your being; only those you ascribe to yourself.
We will complete class with a discussion of your experience, questions, and quiet time to allow for grounding the energy.
